Denver woke up to sub-zero temperatures today, and while a warmup is ahead, the return of snow is in the forecast.
Wednesday, Denver reached a high of only 6 degrees -- a new record for the lowest maximum temperature on Nov. 12, the National Weather Service reports.
Then, late Wednesday, the thermometer at Denver International Airport dropped to minus 13 degrees, also setting a new record for the lowest temperature on the date. The overnight low at DIA was minus 14 early Thursday; Limon got down to minus 20.
Thursday's NWS forecast for Denver calls for a high of 17 degrees -- still bone chilling, but 11 degrees above Wednesday's high. And Friday should bring back above-freezing temperatures.
But the weather service cautions that there's good chance of snow Saturday.
