The U.S. Supreme Court has lifted the stay on same-sex marriages in Kansas, KCTV 5 reports.

In 2005, Kansas voters approved a same-sex marriage ban, but the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that same-sex couples must be allowed to wed in the state.

Despite the court's ruling, Johnson County will be exempt for now until a pending court case is resolved.
