After more than two years in the area, Google Fiber appears to be ready to let Kansas City businesses have access to its gigabit service.

Google Inc. is asking small businesses whether they want to be among the first in the metro area to snag Google Fiber's business offering, according to a mailer obtained by the Kansas City Business Journal. The gigabit service, now open for early access, will cost $100 a month, the mailer reads.

"Small businesses want super-fast Internet speeds, and we've been working hard to make it happen," Google spokeswoman Kelly Mason said in a statement. "After our pilot earlier this year, we're closer than ever to bringing Google Fiber to small businesses in Kansas City."

In addition to product details, Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) declined to specify which areas of Kansas City will first receive the service because the company still is preparing for its implementation. A link shared in the flier states that "super fast Internet for your business is coming soon to Kansas City," and its sign-up page asks for basic information such as the business name, address and contact information.

In April, Google launched a pilot of its business service for a limited but unspecified number of area small businesses. The program was available to any small business in Kansas City and wasn't restricted to Google Fiber customers.

Google has asked eager Kansas City companies to wait patiently for a business product since a July 2012 news conference during which it announced its TV product and network construction strategy.
