Snyder's-Lance CEO joins Krispy Kreme board

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. has a new board member.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc.'s board of directors has named Carl Lee Jr., CEO of Snyder's-Lance Inc., as its newest member.

Jim Morgan, executive chairman of Winston-Salem-based Krispy Kreme (NYSE:KKD), said in a news release: "His extensive domestic and international experience in the snack food industry complements and expands the range of skills on our board, and we are looking forward to his contributions in the years ahead."

Krispy Kreme has been on an ambitious quest to bring its sweet treats to a greater number of markets in the U.S. and overseas.

Lee has been CEO and president of Charlotte-based Snyder's-Lance (NASDAQ:LNCE) since May 2013. He previously was the company's chief operating officer.

Lee was CEO and president of Snyder's of Hanover Inc. from 2005 until its merger with Lance Inc. in December 2010.
