The drivers at FedEx Freight's service center in Newark, New Jersey, have voted against joining the Teamsters union.

The vote, as Reuters has reported, is a setback for the Teamsters campaign to unionize FedEx Freight, which is one of the segments of Memphis-based FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX). The Teamsters have won two of five elections now, and have withdrawn from another.

Four more unionization votes are scheduled at FedEx Freight facilities this month.

In a prepared statement that everyone saw coming, FedEx says it's pleased with the outcome of the most recent vote.

"We are proud of our employees for doing their homework on the union and making an informed decision against third party interference. With this distraction over, our team members in Newark can now get back to focusing on doing what they do best, which is providing excellent service to our customers."
