The Missouri Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled that a 2012 ordinance in St. Louis County requiring lenders to mediate disputes with homeowners before foreclosing on their properties is void.
The court ruled that the ordinance is unenforceable under the county's charter form of government, the Associated Press reported.
Supreme Court Judge Richard Teitelman was the only dissenting vote, saying that the ordinance should have been valid under a charter county's powers.
