FIRST LOOK: Commissary gives food trucks and entrepreneurs room to work

Kate Djupe wants to promote food creation in Columbus – and she's given those producers plenty of space to work.
She is the founder of the Commissary, a new 16,000-square-foot commercial kitchen (and more) now open at 1400 Dublin Road.
The facility offers an array of space and services to food entrepreneurs and food trucks. There are three different commercial kitchen areas that can be rented – six prep kitchen stations, four hot stations with ranges and ovens, and a single specialty station with an ice cream machine and other specialty equipment.
Check out the slideshow for some photos of the Commissary.
There is secured parking for up to 15 food trucks, 24-hour access and a drive-through loading area. There is storage and meeting space available as well.
This is just the first wave of space and services. The building plans to add a brewery and coffee roasting operations and a molecular gastronomy lab next year as well as additional kitchen space.
The Commissary expects to be home to many events too, both its own and those of its tenants. The first is a celebratory block party Nov. 16. Check out the website for more details.
The building is the old Custom Coach space. Real estate broker Brad DeHays acquired the property last year. His Connect Realty offices, Mid-Ohio Contracting Services Inc. and ParkOps LLC valet parking management also are inside.
