Babe’s is D-FW’s most popular restaurant; Cane Rosso is best priced, according to Zagat survey

No surprise that down-home chicken place Babe's ranked highly in a poll. Just LOOK at that chicken. (Mike Stone)

It’s that time of year again, where we look back on 2014 and pick the year’s best moments. For Zagat, that means surveying nearly 2,900 people to pick D-FW’s best restaurants.

“Best” can mean many things, and Zagat identified winners in several categories. Best food goes to Saint-Emilion in Fort Worth. The most popular restaurant, however, was Babe’s Chicken Dinner House (with several D-FW locations). For “best buys $25 and under,” the title goes to Cane Rosso, which got its start in Deep Ellum. And Knox-Henderson spot Gemma wins “hottest newcomer.”

The list also breaks down the best restaurants according to cuisine. They are:

American: Salum
BBQ: Pecan Lodge
Burger Joints: Maple & Motor
French: Saint-Emilion Restaurant
Italian: Nonna
Japanese: Yutaka Sushi Bistro
Mediterranean: Terra Mediterranean Grill
Mexican: Esperanza’s Mexican Bakery & Cafe
Pizza: Cane Rosso
Seafood: Waters
Southern: Ellerbe Fine Foods
Southwestern: Bonnell’s Fine Texas Cuisine
Steakhouses: Al Biernat’s
Tex-Mex: Avila’s Restaurant
