I don't know how this is going to play out for Microsoft but I think  this is a good thing.  I have just downloaded it but yet to see the impact of this.  Knowing M$, what's the catch?

I think since it's freemium on the mobile, it will lead to some subscription for Office on the desktop.

That's pretty cool how they did this.  I saw the 'bypass' effect from +Starbucks Coffee before.  This one is keystroke based - pressing R.  +Honda Video and +YouTube, bow!

This is INSANE. Press "R" while watching. Guaranteed to smile and say "holy crap" while you watch this.

What a prankster!  He's going to endear the Laker fans.  Set to come from the bench but with Steve Nash out for the season, he's going to be a starter for sure.

The photos for this video appeared on my stream last Friday and for me, it was very captivating.  It's one of those few occassions where one could almost catch the story visually.  (Direct link: https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/+LenaKonstantinova/albums/6060694454449946881)

I thought it would have been more stronger on monochrome from the perspective of photojournalism but +Lena Konstantinova said that it's because of the subject of the +G+ Mentorship Program for Photographers program.

I happened to watch +CreativeLive's rebroadcast of Adobe Premier Starter by Larry Gordon last week and I thought of creating a video out of the media.  I usually use Sony Vegas for video production but it would be a good exercise for me to muck around Premiere so after some I, O, ~, pan and zoom, titling, and credit rolls, here it is.

I was not able to get approval from +Lena Konstantinova and I hope she forgives me for this but I saw that the photos were public so I decided against my usual common sense. I only want to limit it to 100 secs but I overshot by a few.  I don't know the exact sequence of how it took place so I only created it based on the story line of hope and desire.

I hope one day I could get into the mentorship program but I don't think I could put in the attention that it would require right now so I don't dare to apply.

The monochrome shot at the end could probably segue to the next exercise.

Enjoy!

I am curious how +Starbucks Coffee was able to create the video with 'Bubble Markers' and a 'Pass-thru' on the timeline of the video.  This is the first time I saw this on YouTube and have to applaud the creative team for getting this to work with the concept.  +YouTube Creators, is this part of the API?

We had a much needed rain in SoCal last week.  This rose caught my eye and thought to practice on my camera once again.  It's getting chilly in the morning now and in the distant future, the roses will go to their dormant stage.

My daughter has been taking care of my orchids and the cattleya blooms lately has gotten her excited.  She's also been fascinated with propagating succulents just from a single leaf.

If she can make this happen, there's no excuse for those afraid to go into gardening.

This one is adorable.
Let's see, $220 7-course meal, will probably give me frugal +Shinae Choi Robinson grocery week budget, couple of Daikoku or Shinsengumi Ramen, or Kogi tacos, coffee at Urth, and some Yougurtland dessert for 4.  That leaves some milkbone for Jack, the American eskie.

I had to pick up some items from a vendor at Santa Monica and they were not ready yet.  They said to wait for another 90 mins.  So what to do?  Turn right on Pico Blvd to Broadway and head to Santa Monica Beach!

The weather was nice today.  Bracing for another wave next week.  Heat wave, that is.

Introduction
I've spent the last 25 years or so with PC.  I've started with an Apple II clone that has two 360K flopply drive and that got me hooked in the PC world.  I wrote and developed software, designed networks, supported hardware issues.

The last 5 years have been transitional as I have been more involved with internet related activities in  Wordpress, social media, local search and mobile web.

I have two kids, my daughter, Sasha, (eldest) taking up nursing at Cal State Los Angeles and my son, CJ, is a college freshman.  Oh, I have a wonderful wife Melita, a breast cancer survivor who have been very supportive of my activities.

Google+ has rekindled my love for photography.  I'm no expert but I just like to appreciate beauty and being able to capture a slice of time with photography.

I love to eat.  Being in a diversed Asian city in LA (Monterey Park) helps with getting to know a lot of other cuisines.

Public Circle Project

There are people that I have followed in my internet activities that I have learned a great deal and I would like to share them here.

Lorelle VanFossen - the person from whom I've learned Wordpress a great deal.
Brian Gardner - a self proclaimed Starbucks addict that I have followed since Revolution days.  He got me into learning about Wordpress themes, and understanding Wordpress from a CMS standpoint.
Mari Smith - the social media diva.  She got me into learning about social media and Facebook in the early years when MySpace was big and everyone was on Friendster, etc.
Kim Dushinski - the mobile marketing queen.  I followed her when only a handful knows anything about mobile marketing.  A good source if you want to learn about ethical mobile marketing.
Darren Rowse - a good resource on blogging
Trey RatcliffEnrique GutierrezQ T Luong - photo pros whose works I admire and have been slowly learning from.
Shina Nae - she shares Korean and Vietnamese cooking.  Warning: can be fiery like her cooking.
I would like to thank Mark Joyner for getting me in Google Plus and Jarek Klimek for starting out this Public Circles project here on Google Plus. (Learn about the Public Circles project)

For those who want to figure what Google+ Maile Ohye gives a good insight on Google+.

I am no internet celebrity but I do check the profile of the people who circle me.  So please don't feel offended if I don't circle you back.

Google+ has given me a way to express myself, which I would have to struggle to do at home :)

Thanks for checking and God bless you.

Our high school friend from years back came from Virginia and wanted to try some Filipino food. Green Banana Leaf was a restaurant recommended by another friend so we gave this one a try. We started with Calamares Fritos and some Pork Sinigang (unfortunately I was not able to take photos as I was too distracted with the conversation going on). Anyway, the calamares was crispy enough not to overcook the squid. The sinigang was a good soup to start with. Kare kare was a combination dish with Crispy Pata. We followed it up with Inihaw na Bangus. I liked how the fish was grilled to make it still juicy. Some restaurants overcook it to make it too dry for my liking. The Bagoong Fried Rice was good topped with some mangoes and mixed with some shrimps. By this time, pinakbet arrived on our table and it was good. I just wished the roasted pork was cut a little bit more smaller bite size so everyone could get a serving of it without having to get a big chunk. Our friend wanted to try some good old Palabok and Lomi. I would just give the palabok an average score. It's still good except that I was expecting something more. By this time, we're already full. We initially ordered Pandan and Halo-halo to give our visitors a glimpse of difference between their east coast versions. Of course, west coast chefs won hands down. Lastly, we tried the House Special GBL dessert. Don't miss out on this one. You will not be disappointed. It's banana/langka combination in wonton wrappers deep fried just right and served with ice cream mixed in with some butterscotch crumbles (I think it is). Presentation was good enough to tempt you even if you've said that you had enough. It was overall a lovely experience. We went on a Sunday lunch and there was some live entertainment. It was packed when we came as there was a family celebration going on. I had the chance to meet Joy and Julius, the couple behind the scenes. Servers were polite and serving time is just right. If you're in Chino Hills area and wanted to get some good Filipino food with some fusion edge, I'd say you should give Green Banana Leaf a try.

I have a friend visiting from the Philippines and we had lunch together with my wife. I opted to try something different this time from the usual barbecue chicken or ribs typical of Thai restaurant. I was very pleased with the service. Tada (our server) was very professional, had a cheerful demeanor but if you don't pay attention, you might get overwhelmed with choices you get from her. But she was very patient with us. We started with fried calamari for our appetizer. The rice vermicelli with fish ball in green curry was great. Tada was gracious enough to mix it for us. Seafood fried rice was very generous in size and we have to bring almost half of it home. It has squid, mussels, scallops, shrimps, crab pieces. Tom Yung Kung was served in a bowl good for three people so we're good. We were pampered during our lunch so I could only speak for my own experience. I was focused on our conversation that I forgot to take pictures of the interior. There are patio dining but we went lunch time, and L.A. is having a heat wave this time so we dined inside.

This is a place we've been going if we feel going for a Korean Tofu. Our family always enjoy eating here. My wife was a little bit disappointed as she always expect an oyster in the kimchi. The waiters pay attention to your needs. Sunny offered an explanation of their loyalty card program. I don't know if there was a management switch but it feels that the place is getting more attention and is on the people's radar as the wait to be seated took us around 30 mins. Overall: Mashi so yo!

I had a very bad experience with this store. I bought a chinese brush a week earlier and did not check it before I left the store as it was sealed. Apparently the brush handle was loose and seems like a bad quality brush after all. Anyway, I went back to the store for an exchange but was refused an exchange because I was not able to bring the receipt. Although I was able to prove to them that this item was their stock, and they agreed that it was their stock, they had to look over their transaction in their register. After more than 15 minutes waiting for a response, I left the store in exasperation. And this is just to get an exchange for a defective brush that is very obvious to their 3 store people. I've been very supportive of our local stores but I am extremely disappointed with the way they handle their customers. Maybe they don't need a customer.
