Position Overview:
This position supports the Manager of Business Systems as a subject matter expert for our portfolio management system which is our most critical system used to perform due diligence on new security alarm customers, track the customer once they are created and perform ongoing portfolio analysis on entire customer base.  The position participates in continuous improvement and new development projects helping to ensure that the system meets the needs of our business.  To successfully perform the role this individual will obtain a working knowledge of each major operation of the company, acquire extensive knowledge of how the portfolio management system connects to each aspect of our business, and includes understanding of the impacts to the General Ledger and the Income Statement.  This role teams with personnel from multiple departments in an ever evolving environment on a regular basis.  This role works especially close with members of the Accounting department to guarantee complex financial activities are reported correctly at accounting period end points, also works very closely with members of IT for system development and maintenance related projects and tasks.  High performance whether in a team in environment or on an individual basis is a must.  Responsibilities will include in-depth research, regular month-end reporting related tasks, frequent interaction with peers using oral and written communications. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Communicate requirements to system development team(s) to support business workflows & policies as related to the portfolio management system.
  • Participate in system improvements by studying current practices, periodic review of process efficiency and business user experience; identifies & suggests modifications.
  • Assist in the establishment and/or maintenance of corporate business processes, procedures and policies by providing insights and recommendations to departments obtained through data analysis.
  • Recommend controls by identifying problems and submit improved procedures for management team approval.
  • Participate in the development of solution architecture.  This may require development of flows and or diagrams from time to time.
  • Answer questions from system users about system implications for complex business transactions.  
  • Perform discovery and communicate findings for research of special business related scenarios.  These can be questions from attorneys, executive management, or escalated and special cases. 
  • Participate as a system expert for major projects during requirements gathering efforts.
  • Manage minor projects from concepts through implementation as assigned.
  • Assist with the preparation of a variety of month-end and periodic reports using analytical and reporting tools in a shared network environment;
  • Manage period end activities to help ensure financial books are closed in time to meet public and other reporting commitments.
  • Manage work consistent with goals, objectives, and special project prioritizations consistent with the departmental focus.
  • Conduct other analytical support duties as assigned, from time to time

Ideal Candidate:

Must have extensive experience with writing Process flows, communicating business requirements, creating reports.

Must have familiarity with accounting systems and accounting principles

Ability to utilize process analysis

Must possess strong prioritization skills; flexibility and ability to multi-task on a daily basis

Strong oral, written and formal presentation skills including ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way

Must have a strong business process orientation, with ability to understand process flow and implications it can have on business results and data

Demonstrates a passion for learning and a willingness to build new skills

Must embrace a continuous improvement mindset, seeking out new ways to do things and generate efficiencies or better analytical insights

Bachelor's degree with emphasis on coursework of an analytical nature, preferably in Business, or Computer Science related fields.

2 – 4 years of related work experience

Extremely proficient at Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Access, VBA knowledge is a plus

Moderately proficient at Microsoft SQL Management Studio 2000 or higher.

Demonstrated competency in gathering, consolidating and reporting data across a number of varying systems and formats
