A French-style Willow Bend estate could be auctioned to the highest bidder next week after sitting on the market for $6.9 million.

The estate, known as Willow Bend Place, sits at 5500 Cavendish Court in Plano and will be open for tours beginning Tuesday for a preview before the Thursday, Nov. 20, auction at 11 a.m.

The opening bid will be determined based on the highest bid submitted prior to the auction. The owners, Mike and Stacy Urtso, will have the right to determine the final price they are willing to accept, said Craig King, CEO of J.P. King Auction Co.

"The client is highly motivated yet reserves the right to accept, should the market not respond for some reason," King said. "The seller is going to auction to find the market value. Also ... the property has been on the market and the client is ready to turn the property over to a new buyer."

The double lot estate includes a French-style 14,500-square-foot mansion that sits on more than 5-acres of woods and grounds. The home includes seven bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and five fireplaces. Peckham Custom Builders renovated the 1993-built mansion in 2010.

Each room has an en-suite bathroom with views of the estate grounds. The gated motor court includes a six-car garage and a workroom attached to the home.

The mansion's master suite includes a safe room that's also storm proof. The property has an interior and exterior security system.

The back of the home includes a patio that opens up to a heated swimming pool, which has its own cleaning system. The pool area has a separate hot tub.

The grounds include mature maple and oak trees for a shady, arboretum-style landscape. A French formal rose garden is also on the property, which is bordered by White Rock Creek. The creek feeds into a fully stocked Koi pond on the estate.

This year, the estate was valued at more than $5.1 million, according to the Collin Central Appraisal District.

Bidders can register online up to an hour before the auction, but will need to show $50,000 in a cashier's check to the auction. Tours are by appointment only beginning Tuesday.
