Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport's flare for local cuisine topped the Yahoo! Travel list of the best places to eat

Places such as Cousin's BBQ, Urban Taco, Pappasitos' Cantina, Belgian Beer Café and Sky Canyon were named among the must-see spots at D/FW Airport, according to Yahoo! Travel.

The survey looked at every restaurant and bar spot at 72 different airports and ranked them based on how unique the restaurant is, how well it represents the area and overall quality. In other words, chains weren't considered.

The survey points out that switching flights at the country's fourth busiest airport is a "hassle."

"Trust me, friends, we were just as surprised as you when we came to this decision," Kevin Alexander, executive editor of Thrillist's Food/Drink, said.

D/FW Airport is in the middle of the Terminal Renewal and Improvement Program that will rebuild Terminal A, B,C and E.

Rounding out the top 10 were:

  • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport
  • Nashville International Airport
  • Denver International Airport
  • San Diego International Airport
  • Portland International Airport
  • Newark Liberty International Airport
  • John F. Kennedy International Airport
  • Los Angeles International Airport
  • San Francisco International Airport

Dallas Love Field, which recently underwent a half a billion-dollar renovation, didn't make the list.
