Plot Summary
This modern mystery tells the story of Cody and Virginia, who start talking while he is in Brooklyn and she is in Berlin. It is a romance that could only happen online, and they’re happy together, though they’ve never physically met. Once Cody becomes suspicious that Virginia may not be in Berlin at all, he becomes obsessed with finding the truth. Tracking two parallel journeys that show how technology complicates modern love, The Heart Machine explores the evolving relationships among physical and emotional intimacy, isolation in the urban hive, and the seduction of hiding behind a screen.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Kate Lyn Sheil and John Gallagher Jr. give excellent performances in Zachary Wigon's impressive debut.
Fresh: Its concerns are deeper, and more richly psychological, than merely trendy probings of the zeitgeist.
Fresh: It showcases a genuine fascination with the mind/body split engendered by Skyping, online dating, and constant app usage through a plot that doesn't fuel itself on received wisdom.
Customer Reviews
Wonderful, original work.
Saw this film a few months ago at a film festival and was taken away by how wonderful it is. Takes a certain perspective on relationships not covered in many films and adds an extra layer by exploring its ideas through the lens of modern technology and dating. Well worth your time. Kate Lyn Sheil gives one of the best performances of the year.
Vertigo Meets Catfish
A very thrilling film with great performances from rising stars John Gallagher, JR. and Kate Lyn Sheil. It's super timely and has some cool Hitchcockian/Vertigo elements. Cool movie!
Well made, thrilling, yet real
You would never know that this was the director’s first film. This film exhibits the careful craftsmanship of a seasoned filmmaker with it’s never hamfisted look into the world of modern, technology driven dating. It’s an unsettling, must see love story.
