Ann Oldenburg, USA TODAY Mama June Shannon — Honey Boo Boo's mom — is stepping into the spotlight, or maybe trying to hang on to the spotlight, as she is doing two new interviews about her family situation.
Mama June's relationship with convicted child molester Mark McDaniel prompted TLC last month to cancel the family's popular reality show, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
On Entertainment TonightWednesday, Shannon said, "I have nothing to hide, I have nothing to lose. I just want me to tell my side of the story and let's move on."
She says she has seen McDaniel twice since his March release from prison.
Once was a "coincidence," she said. And the second time was an arranged meeting to give closure to daughter Pumpkin 14, who was raised believing McDaniel was her biological father. But, Shannon said, he's not.
"Since two months to almost six years, she knew nobody but him," Shannon explained. "She was starting to resent Anna and she was starting to ask me questions."
Shannon's oldest daughter, Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell, 20, says McDaniel molested her when she was 8.
Shannon also drops this bombshell: She says that Pumpkin's biological father is also the father of her 18-year-old daughter Jessica. His name is Michael Anthony Ford and he, too, is a convicted sex offender who served time for sexual exploitation of minors after being caught on To Catch a Predator in 2005.
"Jessica and Pumpkin have the same dad, but Jessica's dad has had nothing to do with her over the years," Shannon said. "So, why the hell would I open up that can of worms until today? I lied to my family and told them it was somebody else."
Shannon is also set to appear on Dr. Phil on Monday. Among the early snippets released, we learn that Shannon says she's no longer seeing McDaniel. "He's moved on, he's got a girlfriend and it's not me."
