HOUSTON – One hundred Houston-area girls will sashay on the stage this weekend with their American Girl dolls. The fashion show will raise money for the Hits Theatre in the Heights.

If you're not familiar with the American Girl phenomenon, the dolls were first designed to bring history alive for little girls. But young fans can also get special-order dolls that look just like them.

This is the 20th year the American Girl Fashion Show is being put on to benefit the children's theater.

"We are a theater that gives classes to kids in grades 1 thru 12," said Lauren Pastorek, interim artistic director at Hits. "But we also have a strong outreach program. We reach underprivileged kids and we touch them with theater."

The money raised will go toward scholarships for students to attend classes there.

There are two shows on Saturday, November 15th and Sunday, November 16th at the Junior League of Houston.

Tickets are $50 per seat.
