The Northside Independent School District received a $1.5 million rebate from CPS Energy during a school board meeting on Nov. 11.

The school district has a history of energy conservation projects dating back to the 1990s that have resulted in more than $3.6 million in rebates over the years.

The funds will be used in the classrooms for instructional programs, said Superintendent Brian Woods.

"Taxpayers and parents should also be proud that NISD is serious about conserving energy as well as teaching our students about being energy conscious," Woods said.
