Tulane took the lead for good on its opening drive of the second half

HOUSTON - Tanner Lee threw for 237 yards and three touchdowns leading Tulane to a 31-24 upset win over Houston on Saturday night.

Tulane (3-6, 2-3 American Athletic Conference) took the lead for good on its opening drive of the second half as Leondre James hauled in a 9-yard touchdown pass from Lee to cap a 12-play, 84-yard drive and make it 21-17. The Green Wave then pulled away on a 1-yard touchdown run from Dontrell Hilliard and a 25-yard Andrew DiRocco field goal while holding Houston (5-4, 3-2) scoreless until the final minute of the game.

Lee finished 24 of 35 for 237 yards with an interception. Hilliard was Tulane's top rusher and receiver, piling up 85 yards on 25 carries and adding another 107 yards on five catches, including a 63-yard touchdown grab.

Greg Ward Jr. was 31 of 45 for 342 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions for Houston.
