After seven years, Duncanville football coach Jeff Dicus has announced his resignation, Duncanville ISD athletic director Cathy Self-Morgan confirmed.

Duncanville won three games in two of the last three seasons. Duncanville missed the state playoffs for third consecutive season with a 3-7 record following a 5-5 record in 2013.

Duncanville competed in a Class 6A district with Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Mansfield and South Grand Prairie.

Duncanville reached the state playoffs in Dicus' first four years and advanced to the second round in 2010.

Dicus arrived at Duncanville with high expectations in 2008 as the architect of Lake Travis' first state title in 2007 for Class 4A Division II. Dicus is well regarded for his passing schemes and teaching. Dicus also is known as a meticulous planner.

Duncanville had won four games the two years before he arrived in a similar situation to his turnaround at Lake Travis, which had a 1-19 record in the two seasons prior to his arrival.
