Homebuilder Minto Communities LLC is expanding its reach in Central Florida, with plans to start work next year on a new 1,600-acre active-adult community near the 1.1 million-square-foot entertainment complex One Daytona.

Minto Communities plans to start construction in mid-2015 on the new community, which will feature 3,000 single-family homes and paired villa residences, or duplexes, along with abundant green space, parks, walking and biking trails and lakes, said a news release. The development also will include a resort-style town center with clubhouse, restaurant, recreational and fitness facilities.

Residents also will have access to membership privileges at nearby LPGA International with its two signature golf courses.

"Minto's newest community will provide a social, active lifestyle with world class resort-style amenities plus all the attractions of Daytona Beach," said William Bullock, Minto Communities Florida senior vice president, in a prepared statement. "Buyers will enjoy the exceptional value, energy-efficiency and craftsmanship of a new Minto home."

Minto is expected to close on buying the land from Daytona Beach-based Consolidated-Tomoka Land Co. (NYSE: CTO) by early 2016, but the deal could close in the latter half of 2015, Consolidated-Tomoka said in a Nov. 11 announcement.

The project would create hundreds of temporary construction jobs, while also bringing new living options for seniors to a bustling area in Volusia County.

Minto also is building homes in Lake Nona's Laureate Park and has plans underway to build a 500-vacation home community near Walt Disney World.
