Fight Ensues Because Of A McGriddle [VIDEO]TYLER, Texas (AP) — A woman who spent half of her life working for an East Texas bank must serve more than two years in prison for embezzling nearly $2.2 million.
Mary Jane Haxton of Lindale was sentenced Wednesday in Tyler. She was also ordered to repay the money.
The 59-year-old Haxton in July pleaded guilty to misapplication of funds by a bank employee.
Federal prosecutors say Haxton, who was sentenced to 30 months in prison, worked as a cashier at Lindale State Bank from 1984 until early 2014.
Authorities believe Haxton in 2004 began misapplying funds to personal accounts that she owned or controlled.
Lindale State Bank last December merged with Texas Bank and Trust and became an official branch. The theft was discovered during the reconciling of the accounts.
