Man Tries To Steal Chainsaw By Sticking It Down His Pants

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS Tampa) – A Florida man was caught on tape shoving a chainsaw down his shorts in a bizarre shoplifting incident late last month in a lawn equipment store in Port St. Lucie, TCPalm reported.
Surveillance video recently released by Port St. Lucie police shows Anthony Ballard, 27, grabbing the chainsaw, stuffing it down his pants behind a shelf and leaving the store.
As employees chased after Ballard, he ditched the saw in a wooded lot. When Ballard later returned to look for it in the woods, he was spotted by employees who called police.
According to the police report, which was obtained by the newspaper, “he later had a change of heart so decided to go get the saw and return it to the store.”
Ballard was arrested and booked on a grand theft charge.
