ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - An amusement park  and maybe some big Lego pieces are in the plans for St. Louis Union Station’s phase two improvements.

As the first phase of hotel and grand hall renovation wraps up, L.H.M. chairman Bob O’Loughlin tells KMOX phase two will be huge,”We envision having a 200 ft. Ferris Wheel out in the parking lot. We’re talking to people about an aquarium. We’re talking to Legoland people.”

O’Loughlin says they’re discussing more restaurants and also more-focused retail shops.

Sixth ward alderwoman Christine Ingrassia says an $18.5 million dollar TIF incentive has been requested from the city, “This is going to be a really great family-friendly attraction the likes of which St. Louis city hasn’t seen in quite a long time.”

Ingrassia adds Union Station really doesn’t have much like competition downtown, “I don’t want it to have the same effect as Ballpark Village seems to be having on some of the local small businesses. This is going to be something new, an addition.”
