Election Returns

GLEN CARBON, Ill. (KMOX) - The Glen Carbon village board will not oppose putting a medical marijuana dispensary in its city.

By a 3-2 vote, trustees decided not to send a letter of opposition to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Some residents of Glen Carbon objected to a dispensary that might be located at Route 157 and Ginger Creek at a vacant former pharmacy space. It’s near a residential neighborhood and close to a high school sports complex. The Edwardsville school superintendent is also opposed.

A decision is expected by the state of Illinois, next month, on where to locate dispensaries.
