MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - A sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-Stout was arrested after the largest drug bust in the school’s history.

Police seized more than six pounds of marijuana, marijuana-based candy, $5,200 in cash and other controlled substances.

Joshua M. Schuster, 21, an Ellsworth native, is being held in the Dunn County Jail.

It’s the largest drug seizure in the history of the UW-Stout Police Department, chief Lisa Walter said.

Schuster faces a number of potential charges, including delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and maintaining a drug house.

The UW-Stout Police Department received a search warrant for Schuster’s off-campus apartment on the 2400 block of Fourth Avenue Northeast.

UW-Stout Chancellor Bob Meyer congratulated the police department on the bust.

“[I] hope it sends a strong message about our commitment to maintaining a safe campus environment,” he said in a statement.

The Menomonie Police Department and members of the West Central Drug Task Force assisted in the search and arrest.
