ROCKY HILL, Conn. (AP) - Some veterans who live at the Connecticut Veterans’ Home in Rocky Hill are lodging complaints about the facility with state lawmakers, claiming they feel disrespected by staff.

Several veterans told members of the legislature’s Program Review and Investigations Committee on Wednesday that discipline is not handled fairly.

Some spoke of the indignity of being put on restriction, like children.

Others said they believe the medical staff is not adequately trained to handle emergencies.

However, others said they were homeless and credited the home and its staff for saving their lives.

About 80 people were on hand for the hearing.

The committee’s nonpartisan staff plans to release a report on the campus, which includes a nursing facility and residential housing, by the end of December.
