HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ A 35-year-old Florida man has pleaded not guilty to charges he threatened public officials in Connecticut, including the governor and two federal judges.

Garrett Santillo of Hollywood, Florida, entered his plea Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Hartford.

He was indicted in September on nine counts alleging he hand-wrote wrote and mailed death threats to 15 people, including Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.

The letters, mailed in July, contained demands that have not been made public. Prosecutors say the recipients were told to follow instructions or they would be killed.

The indictment does not name the judges involved.

The case has been assigned to U.S. District Judge Alvin Thompson, who prosecutors say did not receive one of the letters.
