ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4)- Commuters at Denver metro area RTD stops tried to keep warm before the sun came up on Thursday morning as temperatures dipped below zero.

Denver was at -5 but it felt more like negative 17 with the wind.

That left some commuters sitting in their cars to keep warm at the RTD station at 36th and Sheridan until their bus arrived.

“I don’t like it when it goes so quickly I would prefer it that the weather would go down slowly but we can’t predict that and we can’t control it,” said Arvada resident Marge Lincoln.

The high in Denver is expected to break into the double digits and hit around 20 as a snowstorm with relatively milder air from the west moves in.
