Nearly 600 Halloween Arrests For Drunken Driving

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Nearly 600 people were arrested for drunken driving in North Carolina during the state’s Halloween “Booze It & Lose It” campaign.

Officials say close to 400 law enforcement agencies participated in the campaign. In all, 583 drunken drivers were arrested, and Wake County topped the list with 80 arrests.

There were 47 arrests in Harnett County, 45 in Cumberland County, 41 in Mecklenburg County and 37 arrests in Guilford County.

The campaign ran from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.

Authorities also issued 16,854 traffic and criminal citations during the statewide effort.
