DALLAS (KRLD) – Dallas’s multi-use facility The Crescent is set to undergo nearly $30 million in renovations to become more open and attractive to Uptown residents and visitors.

Officials in charge say they’re ready to shed the “closed off” image and evolve into a destination by adding upscale dining and shopping.

“We have three of the best designed office towers with adjacent upscale shopping and premier hotels and restaurants on 11 acres in the heart of Uptown,” said John Zogg, managing director for Crescent Real Estate Equities, LLC. “We are opening our arms to the neighborhood – embracing our great neighbors and welcoming them to work, shop and dine with us.”

The facility has typically been isolated from the neighborhood with thick stone walls and iron grillwork gates. The updated Crescent will be more open, offering additional green space, indoor courtyards with open gardens, and outdoor gathering spaces.

Current retailer Stanley Korshak will receive a new storefront, complete with a larger, more enticing widow display. The retail center will also welcome the second location of popular coffee house Ascension, which originated in the Dallas Design Destrict.

“Every edge of The Crescent is going to be affected by this renovation,” said Zogg. “And very soon we’ll be announcing more exciting new retail options.”

The renovations will begin in January 2015 and take 18 months to complete.
