You can hear the collective howls across Houston. A Houston bar/dog park will be no more.
The Boneyard Drinkery, a unique bar that offered both boozy libations and a place for Rover to run, will close its doors Sunday, Nov. 30, according to a Facebook posting on the bar's page. The bar, located on Washington Avenue, reports the land it has been leasing has been sold.
"Due to the size of property needed for this concept, and the outrageous increase of property value in Houston over the last few years, we will not be relocating," the Boneyard said in its post.
The Boneyard opened in 2011 and also hosted several fundraisers for pooches. In fact, the bar will host its final fundraiser, Boneyard Big Hearts Bash, for the Great Dane Rescue of Southeast Texas Nov. 16.
The Boneyard joins a rash of other Washington Avenue closures, including TQLA, a southwestern restaurant and tequila bar, and Polovina Italian Café at 4500 Washington. However, Eater Houston reported that Polovina owner Mohammad Al-Ahmed planned to relocate the restaurant to downtown Houston by the end of the year.
