DALLAS, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – Despite the recent cold weather snap in North Texas, a fourth case of imported Chikungunya virus has been confirmed in Dallas County according to officials with Dallas County Health and Human Services.

Health officials say the patient was infected with the virus during recent travel to an endemic country.

Due to privacy concerns, DCHHS will not provide any other information on the patient.

The Chikungunya virus is transmitted to people by mosquitoes. The virus causes high fever and severe joint pain that start suddenly. It can also cause headache, muscle pain and rash.
