Superintendent Mike Miles decided Friday to remove the principal, two assistant principals and 10 teachers at Dade Middle School in an emergency overhaul at the South Dallas campus.

Miles visited the campus this week and was so upset with what he saw that he ordered immediate changes at the school, according to sources. Principal Michael Jones has been removed effective immediately and replaced with Hogg Elementary School principal Margarita Garcia. Two assistant principals at Dade were also demoted.

Ten teachers were also reassigned. The district is holding a meeting with parents Tuesday to announce the changes. The 10 teachers will be replaced with 10 instructional coaches who are coming from other parts of the district.

Dade will also receive five new academic facilitators and an administrator will now assist the school. The new staff will meet with Miles starting at 6:30 a.m. Monday to go over their new assignments at Dade.

Dade will now have its third principal in two years. Miles madeĀ Alecia Cobb as Dade principal in the 2013-14 school year, but she was reassigned during the summer. Dade has a state accountability rating of “improvement required,” the lowest rating.
