Taste of Belgium's signature waffles are now available everywhere in America as the Cincinnati restaurant opens online sales.

Chief Waffle Officer Jean-Francois Flechet made the announcement at the Business Courier's Forty Under 40 alumni speaker series.

"We started shipping waffles the day that the show ( 'Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives,' which featured Taste of Belgium on Oct. 10) aired," Flechet told me. "That's when we launched our new website. Now we've got fully-functioning e-commerce."

Shoppers can buy a pack of four waffles from the store or stock up in bulk with two, three or eight packs of waffles.

Flechet also gave an update on the planned restaurant at the Rookwood Exchange, a 4,000-square-foot bistro on the development's ground floor with an outdoor patio that will be the chain's largest location.

"We're finalizing the design and should be sending everything to permitting in the next few weeks," he said. "We plan on opening the first week of April."

The Rookwood restaurant will be Flechet's fifth outpost. He has two restaurants in Cincinnati – in Over-the-Rhine and on Short Vine – as well as operations in Findlay Market and Columbus.

Brownfield covers retail and restaurants, technology, manufacturing and courts.
