HOUSTON -- The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for the Houston area from 9 p.m. Thursday until 8 a.m. Friday.
Our southern counties are only under a Freeze Watch.
Temperatures are expected to drop into the low- to mid-30s overnight, which lower than usual for this time of year.
While no freezing precipitation or icing conditions are expected, the City of Houston is reminding citizens to "Protect the 4 P's: People, Pets, Pipes and Plants."

-- Protect people by ensuring that the elderly and those who may have other needs have sufficient warmth to get them through cold weather.
-- Be sure to use only those space heaters and appliances that are tested by an approved laboratory. Keeps children and pets away from heaters, and leave at least 3 feet of space between heaters and other objects.
-- During cold weather, pets should be kept indoors.
-- Pipes generally don't freeze until the temperature drops into the 20s, but it is always a good idea to protect outdoor pipes with insulation.
-- Plants that can't be moved indoors should be covered on cold nights with fabric to help keep them somewhat insulated during a freeze.
