ROSENBERG, Texas – Two Rosenberg Police Officers are being hailed heroes after saving a man from a burning vehicle.

It's approximately 2:30 AM, November 8th, when Rosenberg Police are dispatched to a single car accident on Highway 59. Sgt. Anthony Schnacky and Officer Matthew Curry are first to arrive.

"When you're on scene I believe the first thing that comes to mind is time," explained Schnacky.

Inside a flipped and flaming pickup truck is David Adams.

Over police dash cam you can hear the officers talking to Adams. "Don't move okay?"

"It was clear to see had a broken femur and by that time the smoke had already started coming in the car and flames as well," Schnacky remembers.

Once again, their words come over the radio.

Schnacky: Listen to me I need to get you out of this truck okay?

Adams: I think my leg is broke!

Schnacky: I know listen we got a pole him right now okay?

Without a thought for their lives, Schnacky and Curry smash the back window and pull David to safety.

"When you are in one of those situations you can't think about what's going to happen to me, it's what's going to happen to them," said Curry.

Seconds later the truck is ablaze and airbags explode.

"Very, very lucky," said Adam's wife, Kimberly. "I am so grateful to the police officers that pulled them out."

Adams suffered a broken leg and shoulder and has several cuts to his face; however, he will be okay.

"It makes you think twice and it makes you think life is just so short you need to tell everybody that you love them every day and treat them like it's going to be your last," Kimberly reflects.

"I know when I went home I was thinking, 'an angel was definitely looking down on Mr. Adams that night'," Schnacky said.

Kimberly will tell you those angels were wearing uniforms.

"From the bottom of my heart… I'm forever grateful to them and I thank them for saving his life."
