Bellaire High parents angry they weren't told about alleged sexual assault

BELLAIRE, Texas -- There are new concerns at Bellaire High School where a 14-year old freshman was allegedly sexually assaulted in a bathroom last month.

Parents say they had no idea about the incident until they heard it on the news. Many felt they should have been told as soon as HISD police opened an investigation.

"I just couldn't believe it," said parent Valeria Sweed. "I said, 'What? What is going on?'"

According to the district, the alleged assault was reported on October 14th. Students say it happened in a boys' bathroom in the science wing.

Nine boys, including some on the football team, allegedly assaulted a girl and even took pictures.

"It surprised me but, like, I don't really believe it," said graduate Gadiel Cardenas.

Students say some of their classmates have already been suspended, but the district would not confirm that.

It is still not clear if any of the photos of the alleged attack made it onto social media sites. Some students claim they were texted and shared.
