DUNCANVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) – Duncanville Police are asking for the public’s help to find a teenager’s killer.

Ryan Lara, 15, was shot in front of his home in the 700 block of Wren Avenue at about 11:20 p.m. on Saturday.  Lara was moving his parent’s car from the street to the driveway when someone fired shots at him.  Lara’s family described the suspect’s vehicle as a possible gray or silver 4-door compact sedan.  One of Lara’s family members fired his own gun at the suspect’s car, but police don’t know if anyone was hit.

Police say Lara was shot after a possible attempted robbery.  He was taken to the hospital where he died of his wounds.

Lara had suffered from Lymphoma cancer. His health had just started to improve slightly after his twice weekly chemotherapy treatments.

“He showed a lot of progress and he was actually doing very well,” said his oldest brother. “He was real strong. acting like he didn’t even have cancer.”

North Texas Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of anyone involved in the deadly shooting.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Duncanville Police Detective Jeff Pollock at 972-780-5000 X 1103 or Crime Stoppers at 1-877-373-8477.
