Cancer killed 570,000 Americans in 2010. Research to combat the deadly disease and other illnesses received a boost when Shimadzu Scientific Instruments donated $3 million in equipment to create the Shimadzu Center for Advanced Analytical Chemistry.
The gift helps Subhrangsu Mandal analyze cancer-causing chemicals.Jian Yang uses the instrumentation to improve cancer detection.Kevin Schug applies the equipment to prevent the spread of malaria.Such gifts in kind enhance the quality of life for future generations.
