RadioShack Corp. reportedly is backtracking on its Thanksgiving plans.
The Fort Worth-based electronics retailer will still open during the holiday, but it reportedly has modified its hours from 8 a.m. to midnight to now being closed between noon and 5 p.m., according to an employee memo Bloomberg acquired.
"We understand the long operating hours posed potential issues with personal scheduling," CEO Joseph Magnacca reportedly wrote in the memo, according to Bloomberg. "Therefore, we have created an adjusted schedule that will eliminate that concern and still capture the opportunity in the marketplace."
Magnacca also said that last year, the company only opened stores it was required to open due to leasing agreements. That strategy resulted in "disappointing sales" for the entire weekend due to "non-competitive operating hours," Bloomberg reports.
RadioShack (NYSE: RSH) told its employees on Monday that it would open the majority of its stores from 8 a.m. to midnight, reversing its decision to give employees the day off last year. A company spokeswoman said Thanksgiving shifts will be filled first by employees who volunteer.
