This Distinguished Teaching in Journalism Award, made annually, honors a collegiate journalism educator and recognizes outstanding teaching ability, contributions to journalism, journalism education and contributions toward maintaining the highest standards of the profession.

Eligibility

Anyone teaching in the field of journalism on the college level is eligible. Nominations can be submitted by students, former students, colleagues and department heads, as well as professionals in the field. SPJ membership is not a requirement for eligibility.

Nominations

Nomination form should be accompanied by a curriculum vitae and one or more letters of recommendation that address the nominee’s contributions and service to journalism education and the profession and why the nominee is deserving of this national recognition.

Submit all nomination materials unbound on 8 1/2 x 11 paper. Additional supporting materials are welcomed and should be limited to 10 pages.

Winner Announcement and Presentation

Winners will be announced in July and honored at the Excellence in Journalism Convention.

Deadlines

Nominations must be postmarked on or before March 20. Nominations should be mailed, faxed or e-mailed to:
