Although much maligned by the environmental movement, fossil fuels were the seed stock for the Industrial Revolution, making modern living standards possible and vastly improving living conditions around the world – lifting entire populations from subsistence poverty. The colossal benefits of fossil fuels are rarely acknowledged and their characteristics make them far superior to current energy alternatives on multiple levels. The current climate policies to supplant fossil fuels with inferior energy sources risk undermining the well-springs of mankind's greatest advance.
