  1. The BBC reports: “The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says in a stark report that most of the world’s electricity can – and must – be produced from low-carbon sources by 2050. If not, the world faces “severe, pervasive and irreversible” damage.”
  2. According to The Guardian, “Anti-tar sands campaigns have cost the industry a staggering $17bn (£11bn) in lost revenues, and helped to push it onto the backfoot, according to a study by the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA), and Oil Change International.”
  3. Reuters reports, “Brazil finally entered the solar power sector on Friday, granting contracts for the construction of 31 solar parks as it tries to diversify its sources of generation amid an energy crisis caused by the worst drought in eight decades.”
  4. According to PV Magazine: “By 2020, Morocco is aiming to install 2 GW of solar, 2 GW of wind power and increase to 2 GW hydropower capacity in the country. The IEA says renewables ’should represent 42% of installed capacity by 2020.’”
