Sandra Bullock's brand is crisis, indeed. The Oscar-winning actress assumed a new role this week on the New Orleans-set of "Our Brand is Crisis": emergency medical technician. Or at least angel of mercy.
Bullock, who stars in the George Clooney-produced political drama, leapt into action on Sunday (Oct. 26) when an unidentified person collapsed on the set, TMZ is reporting. Speculating that it was a case of heat stroke, the celebrity website reported -- and has the photos to prove it -- that Bullock comforted the stricken individual until real EMTs arrived.
"Sandra took charge ... giving her fallen comrade water and fanning her in a shady place until an ambulance arrived and took the woman to a nearby hospital," the report says. "(Co-star) Billy Bob Thornton was also there, but mostly watching. Obviously, women seem to handle emergencies better."
There was no word on the condition of the unnamed patient following the incident.
Directed by David Gordon Green ("Pineapple Express," "George Washington"), "Our Brand is Crisis" is based on the 2005 documentary of the same name and will focus on the exporting of American political strategies to South American countries. In it, Bullock will play a retired political consultant known as "Calamity Jane" who is recruited to help the campaign of an unpopular Bolivian president. Thornton will play a political rival of hers who signs up to work for her candidate's opponent.
New Orleans native Anthony Mackie will co-star, part of a cast that includes Scoot McNairy, Zoe Kazan, Ann Dowd, Reynaldo Pacheco, Dominic Flores, Louis Arcella and Joaquim de Almeida.
"Our Brand is Crisis" -- which has been shooting in town since late September -- is one of a number of film and TV productions either shooting or preparing to shoot in Louisiana. Others include the Warner Bros.-backed action film "Geostorm," starring Gerard Butler; the action-comedy "Mr. Right," starring Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick; and the biopic "Trumbo," starring Bryan Cranston and Helen Mirren.
