Chris did his first radio program at an NPR affiliate in Connecticut in 1978 when he was 17. He discovered bluegrass in 1977 when he was exposed to the music of the Seldom Scene, who were performing in Connecticut. Trips to the Birchmere soon followed, where Chris heard the Scene, the Country Gentlemen, and other Washington-area bluegrass bands on their home turf.

Chris has been presenting bluegrass and related music on the airwaves in Connecticut since 1978, and joined WAMU's Bluegrass Country as Senior Music Producer in September of 2011. He now lives in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
