Tickets are now on sale for the Friends Annual Gathering!

Join Friends members, board and staff for our Annual Gathering at the Metropolitan Ballroom in Golden Valley, Minnesota on Thursday, November 6th from 6:00 – 8:30 PM. This is a very special year for the Boundary Waters, being the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act. We hope you can join us for a celebration of this milestone and to honor Loll Designs, the recipient of our annual Conservation Award.

Our keynote speaker is Jaime A. Pinkham, a citizen of the Nez Perce Tribe and Vice President of the Bush Foundation in St. Paul, Minnesota leading their native nations program. His speech is entitled “Standing at the Looking Back Place,” and reflects on the value and values of wilderness. He also spoke on this topic at the Lake Superior Wilderness Conference in Duluth.

Prior to joining the Bush Foundation he spent over two decades working in the Pacific Northwest advocating for tribal sovereignty, self-determination and treaty rights. He was elected twice to the governing body of the Nez Perce Tribe and managed the Tribe’s natural resources programs where he was involved in reintroducing grey wolves to Idaho, acquiring tribal ancestral lands in northeast Oregon, water rights negotiations and salmon recovery. He has served on various tribal, conservation and education boards and currently serves on the Wilderness Society’s Governing Council and American Rivers Board of Directors.

Tickets are now on sale – $40 for individual tickets, $175 for half-tables of five people, and $350 for a full table of ten people. Hors d’oeuvres, dessert, and coffee will be served, and there are some great items in the silent auction.

RSVP by October 26th to Cori at 612-332-9630 or cori at friends-bwca dot org to purchase your tickets or table.
