The French supercar and the Toyota people mover bookend federal fuel economy ratings for 2015.

The $1.9 million, 253 mph-capable, rapper Ace Hood-toting French supercar is a gas glouton, ranking as the least fuel-efficient vehicle of 2015, according to fuel economy ratings released Thursday by the Energy Department and Environmental Protection Agency.

The two-seat Bugatti Veyron, the front grill of which resembles Munch's "The Scream," is made from ultralight aluminum and carbon fiber. But with an engine that can blast from 0 to 60 in 2.5 seconds, this wheeled rocket gets an average of only 10 mpg – about the same as the U.S. Army’s M35 cargo truck.

Bugatti did not respond to a request for comment.

But its wasn’t the only elite automobile to be swept low. Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari, Maserati and Rolls-Royce models all ranked at the bottom of the list, with mileages ranging from 13 to 15 mpg.

And even if the news won’t send multimillionaires and billionaires rifling through their cars’ hand-sewn seats for loose change, fuel economy regularly ranks as shoppers’ top concern when buying a new car. This week, the EPA and Justice Department announced record fines and penalties against Hyundai and Kia for overestimating vehicles’ gas mileage

At the other end of the list, old standbys took the top spots. They were led by the Toyota Prius hybrid, which gets a whopping 50 mpg.

The Chevrolet Spark, Volkswagen e-Golf, Fiat 500e, Nissan Leaf, Smart Fortwo and Kia Soul Electric were the most efficient electric vehicles, getting from 105 to 119 mpg-equivalent.

In the truck and van category, the Lexus NX 300h, a hybrid, ranked as the most efficient SUV, getting a combined average 33 mpg. The Dodge Ram 1500 ranked as the most efficient standard pickup at 23 mpg, followed by small pickups the Toyota Tacoma, GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado. All the pickups on the list were two-wheel drive models. 

The Mazda 5 was the most efficient van, at 24 mpg.

At the rear of the truck pack were the four-wheel drive versions of the Ram and Tacoma, as well as the Toyota Tundra, Nissan Xterra and Mercedes-Benz G63.
