Three big-city mayors repudiate New York Post story

The mayors of Yonkers, Syracuse, Rochester released a statement today responding to Fredric U. Dicker’s column in the New York Post that said their cities are “close to bankruptcy” and looking for a bailout from the governor.

Mayors Stephanie Miner of Syracuse, Thomas Richards of Rochester and Mike Spano of Yonkers contend that they are not seeking “handouts ” – and instead “are working together and looking to have frank conversations with the governor regarding the new realities of municipal finance.”
