Orioles' Andrew Miller drawing a ton of interest
    by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(5:33 pm ET) Orioles reliever Andrew Miller has drawn interest from 22 teams, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman.

Miller is coming off a tremendous season, posting a 2.02 ERA in 62 1/3 innings. He's reportedly seeking a four-year deal, and wants significant money. Miller has already reportedly met with the Blue Jays, and will likely sit down with a number of teams before he makes his decision.

Report: Marlins, Giancarlo Stanton discussing $300M deal
    by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(5:27 pm ET) The Marlins are discussing a record-breaking $300 million deal with outfielder Giancarlo Stanton, according to FoxSports.com.

The two sides are discussing a 10-year, $300 million deal that would keep Stanton in Miami long-term. Stanton's representatives have also discussed shorter deals with the franchise. General manager Dan Jennings said the two sides have had "continual dialogue," but added "I wouldn't say we're close to anything."

The 25-year-old Stanton is coming off an incredible season in which he hit .288/.395/.555, with 37 home runs, over 539 at-bats. If he doesn't agree to an extension, Stanton would become a free-agent in 2017.

Dodgers looking to bring back Russell Martin
    by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(5:20 pm ET) The Dodgers are looking to sign catcher Russell Martin, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman.

Martin spent his first six seasons with the club before signing with the Yankees. The 31-year-old Martin is coming off a season in which he hit .290/.402/.430 over 379 at-bats. He's the best catcher on the market, and has already drawn interest from a number of teams. The Pirates are said to be strong suitors for Martin, but it's unclear how much money the club can spend to keep him.

Collins doesn't want David Wright pressing to hit HRs at Citi Field
    by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4:25 pm ET) Mets manager Terry Collins said Thursday he hopes third baseman David Wright doesn't change his approach at the plate even though the fences are being moved in at Citi Field.

"I just hope guys don't get caught up in trying to change too much," Collins said, per NJ.com. "I don't want to give David Wright a chance to hit home runs. I want David Wright to be a good hitter. As I told him, when he's swinging a bat good, he's dangerous. I'll take some balls off the wall."

Wright hit just eight home runs in 134 games last season. He has just 46 home runs and a .452 slugging percentage in 399 games at Citi Field since 2009.

Pompey, Pillar will compete for starting job in center for Blue Jays
    by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(4:08 pm ET) With the trade of Anthony Gose, the competition for the starting job in center field this spring for the Blue Jays is between Dalton Pompey and Kevin Pillar. General manager Alex Anthopoulos said Thursday that Pompey has "tremendous upside."

"The ingredients are there. He can be a complete player. He can be an above-average defender in center, but I still think he needs to tighten up some things, and he's been doing that in the Fall League," Anthopoulos said, per Sportsnet.ca. "Continue to get better with his routes, continue to get better with his throwing mechanics and not getting on the side of the ball, getting on top of the ball, because he’s got the arm-strength, and continue to have quality at-bats. That's what we like about his offensive game. He grinds out at-bats, he'll work a walk. It’s a quality at-bat each time."

Padres listening to offers for catchers
    by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3:59 pm ET) The Padres are listening to trade offers on their catchers, sources told CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman. Rene Rivera and Yasmani Grandal were the Padres' primary catchers in 2014.

The Padres are looking to make trades to upgrade their offense. Starting pitchers Ian Kennedy, Andrew Cashner and Tyson Ross are also rumored to be on the trading block.

Report: Stephen Drew could be fallback option for Yankees, Mets
    by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3:54 pm ET) Free agent shortstop Stephen Drew could be a fallback option for the Yankees and Mets, according to the New York Post. Both see Drew as an alternative if the shortstop market doesn't take shape.

Drew missed the first two months last season after holding out for a contract. He eventually signed with the Red Sox and was then traded to the Yankees. Drew hit .162 with seven home runs and 26 RBI in 85 games.

Report: Cubs among six teams interested in Jonny Gomes
    by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3:41 pm ET) Six teams are interested in signing veteran outfielder Jonny Gomes, according to MLBDailyDish.com. The Cubs are believed to be one of the six teams, but Gomes is still "early in the process."

Gomes hit .234 with six home runs and 37 RBI in 112 games between the Red Sox and A's in 2014.

Mets' Collins indicates Matt Harvey might skip starts in 2015
    by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(3:15 pm ET) Manager Terry Collins said Thursday the Mets might have starting pitcher Matt Harvey skip some starts in 2015, as the right-handed hurler returns from Tommy John surgery after missing the entire 2014 season.

"We have no set number [of innings] to put on Matt, but certainly we might skip him here and there once in a while, just to save him," Collins said, per Newsday. "That will all be explained to him and there'll be arguments and he'll throw a tantrum in the office but it's all part of the job because he wants to pitch and he wants to win.

"He's dying to get on the mound. He'll be down in Florida in January ... You know him. The first bullpen, there's going to be 30 [reporters] standing around, TV cameras -- 'Matt, you don't need to throw 100 here. It's about getting in shape.' We'll have to rein him in on a daily basis. I know he's really excited because he feels great."

Mets' Wright making 'significant improvement' with shoulder injury
    by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(2:18 pm ET) Mets manager Terry Collins said Thursday third baseman David Wright is in Florida rehabbing his shoulder and has progressed to weight training, according to the New York Daily News.

Wright checked in with MLB Network Radio Thursday to also update his status.

"It's feeling good," he said of his shoulder. "I had an MRI last week, and there's significant improvement. That's a good sign. I've worked hard."
