AL Central hitters dominate 2014 Silver Slugger Awards

Major League Baseball announced the 2014 Silver Slugger Award winners during a live television broadcast on Thursday night. The Silver Slugger, as you probably know, is given to the best offensive player at each position in each league. They are voted on by big league managers and coaches.

Here are the 2014 Silver Slugger Award winners:

CATCHER
AL: Yan Gomes, Indians
NL: Buster Posey, Giants

FIRST BASE
AL: Jose Abreu, White Sox
NL: Adrian Gonzalez, Dodgers

SECOND BASE
AL: Jose Altuve, Astros
NL: Neil Walker, Pirates

SHORTSTOP
AL: Alexei Ramirez, White Sox
NL: Ian Desmond, Nationals

THIRD BASE
AL: Adrian Beltre, Rangers
NL: Anthony Rendon, Nationals

LEFT FIELD
AL: Michael Brantley, Indians
NL: Justin Upton, Braves

CENTER FIELD
AL: Mike Trout, Angels
NL: Andrew McCutchen, Pirates

RIGHT FIELD
AL: Jose Bautista, Blue Jays
NL: Giancarlo Stanton, Marlins

AL DESIGNATED HITTER: Victor Martinez, Tigers

NL PITCHER: Madison Bumgarner, Giants
