Adult Probation

1. Whom may citizens contact about offenders under community supervision?

Persons needing information on offenders under community supervision may contact the CSO links in the website directory or call the main number at the Parker County Community Supervision and Corrections Department (PCCSCD) office, 817-594-3872.

2. What action should citizens take in situations of perceived harassment by offenders?

If anyone is in immediate danger, citizens should call 911.

If not, citizens should report these situations to the appropriate CSOs who will investigate and determine violations. If the activity continues, it should be reported to the police for criminal investigation.

3. What payment methods are accepted by Community Supervision and Corrections Department?

The CSCD accepts payments in the form of money order, credit/debit card or cashier’s check.

4. How do offenders pay fees?

Community Supervision (Probation) fees and Court-ordered payments are to be paid through this department only. Payments are acceptable only in money orders, cashier check or credit/debit card. Personal Checks and Cash are not accepted. Make money orders or cashiers checks out to Parker County CSCD. If paying in person, you will receive a receipt; if paying by mail, you must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope to receive a receipt. To ensure that your payment is credited to your account, print your cause number on your money order or cashiers check when mailing your payment.
You may have an option to pay your fees by credit/debit card. You will need to discuss this with your supervision officer.

5. Are offenders allowed to move to other counties or states?

Generally, yes. Offenders who reside in other counties or states upon receiving supervision may request that their supervision be transferred. However, transfers are subject to approval of the receiving counties or states, depending on a number of different criteria. Defendants who are allowed to transfer are required to follow the local rules of supervision as well as those of Parker County.

6. What happens to an offender who can't make their scheduled appointments?

Offenders bear the responsibility of contacting their supervision officers as soon as they know they can’t keep their scheduled appointments. Rescheduling is left to officer discretion, depending on individual circumstances.

7. Are offenders allowed to travel outside Parker County while on supervision?

Unless prohibited by court-ordered conditions, in most cases, permission to travel may be granted by supervision officers on a case-by-case basis. Offenders may be asked to correct fee or behavior delinquencies, adhere to certain restrictions and/or provide itinerary and contact information prior to consideration of travel privileges.

8. How often are offenders required to report?

Frequency of reporting is determined by such factors as caseload assignment, risk to the community, individual needs, and casework issues being addressed. Those on regular supervision are usually required to report one time per month. Depending on casework issues, offenders may be required to report two or three times a month and in rare instances, weekly or daily.

No department has control, possession, or authority over the records of any other department. A request made to the wrong department can cause unnecessary delay. The department that received a request for records in another department has no duty to forward the request to the correct department. Clean-up day is usually on a Saturday in April every year. Commissioner Court votes every year setting the date so it varies on which Saturday it may fall on. 7. Do you accept paint for recycle?

No we do not accept paint. If you can dry the paint out (leave the lid off or mix with kitty litter), you should be able to dispose of it through your local trash service. You can also purchase a hazardous waste voucher, which will enable you to dispose of paint, house hold chemicals, florescent bulbs, fertilizers, and gas. See recycling page for more information. Contacting an Inmate

4. How can I get money to a inmate when I live in another state?

Commissary is subcontracted out to LoneStar Commissary. Offenders are allowed to make weekly purchases up to $200.

If you wish to send money in to an inmate for their commissary purchases, you can drop off a cashier’s check or money order to the Visitation Officer during visitation hours or mail one into the facility. The cashier’s check or money order must be in the name of “C/O Inmate Trust Fund” and then the inmates name.

5. When someone transfers in, will mail that is en route be forwarded there from the previous facility, or returned to sender?

It will be returned.

6. Can the socks be white with grey toes?

Yes.

7. Can I visit an inmate with a consular ID or does it needs to be a U.S. ID?

Any valid ID will work.

8. If funds have been deposited to a general account for phone calls or commissary, how is the inmate to know that information?

When the inmate picks up the phone and enters their PIN there is a message waiting on them. If you do not want to rely on that system, you could always call our jail staff and they will get the message to them.

9. Do i need an ID code of an inmate to put on the envelope so they can surely get mail?

No, their first and last name is enough.

10. Does the underwear have to be white?

Yes.

11. How many pics can an inmate have?

A Maximum of 50.

12. Can an inmate receive cards made from construction paper in the event kids make them for their parent?

An inmate can receive a card made from construction paper, but he/she will not be able to retain it in their area. The card will be presented to him/her and he/she will be allowed to look at it. It will then be collected and placed into his/her property.

13. What kind of shoes can I send an inmate?

In order for the shoes to be accepted they must have velcro (no shoelaces) fasteners. If you have any questions call 682-229-2346.

14. Are all inmates listed on your website?

All inmates being held on local city, county, or state charges will be listed on the web site.

15. How can I send an inmate socks and/or boxers?

White socks and white underwear can be sent to an inmate via the U.S. mail. Access the visitation and contact section of our website; the mailing instructions are there.

16. What is the policy in regards to picutres in letters, in particular inkjet printed materials?

All photos must be from a photo lab or a store kiosk. No inkjet printed materials, such as photos or internet resources, will be allowed.

17. What kind of stamps should be used?

Any United States Postal Service stamp(s) of the proper amount will work.

18. Can inmates receive cigarettes in the mail?

No. Tobacco is not allowed into the facility.

19. Can ladies underwear have a small tag with the manufactures name on the outside of the waste band, or printed on the outside of the waist band?

Inmates can also receive up to 3 pairs of white socks, underwear, thermals top / bottom (not one piece) and t-shirts (no tank tops or pockets) by an online retailer through the mail.

20. What online store can we use to purchase items for an inmate?

Any online retailer will work.

21. Can an inmate receive mail from anyone or does it have to come only from people who are on an approved list?

Review the rules and policies in regards to what mail an inmate may receive on the visitation and contact of the website.

22. Can I send an inmate boxers? Does the t-shirt and boxers have to be white also?

Yes. Boxers are allowed, however, the boxers and any other underwear must be white. The website has been updated today to clarify that issue.

The first thing you need to do is to report the crime to local law enforcement. If you live out in the county, call the Parker County Sheriff’s Department. If you live within the city limits, call your city police department.

Our office does not investigate crimes, it prosecutes cases that have already been investigated by law enforcement.

3. How do I find out the status of my case?

You can find out the general status of a criminal case by using the Parker County Records Search and entering either the case number of the defendant’s name.

1. Where can I get forms to file my lawsuit or divorce?

The district clerk’s office cannot provide legal advice and does not provide forms for lawsuits or divorces. A helpful website for forms is Texas Law Help.

2. Who can serve process?

The district clerk can provide service of process via certified mail, return receipt requested for $100. If you would like for Parker County Constable or Sheriff’s Office to serve process, you will need to make arrangements for service and payments with that office.

3. What if I am unable to attend my hearing with the Attorney General?

For child support case information or payment information you may call the Attorney General's Fort Worth Division 817-731-9811 and the Texas Child Support Disbursement Unit 800-252-8014.

4. Where can I pay my taxes?

If a lawsuit has been filed against you for delinquent taxes, you may pay the court costs at the District Clerk’s Office. Contact them at 817-598-6114.

To pay the balance of outstanding taxes, contact the Parker County Appraisal District at 817-596-0077.

5. How much does it cost to file an expunction?

The filing fee is $227. There is an additional fee of $14 per entity that you would like to receive notice of the hearing and a certified copy of the final order. If the hearing is rescheduled, the fee to resend to notice is $7 per entity.

Please provide extra copies of your petition for expunction to send to each entity, or we can make the copies for $1 per page.

Practice tip: the court coordinators set the hearings and prefer to receive a separate notice or order setting hearing.

6. What is my felony court costs balance? Did you receive my payment?

7. How do I get my cash bond back?

The defendant or person who deposited the cash bail bond needs to complete the proper paperwork and present it to the judge. Once the judge signs the order, granting release of the bond, the District Clerk will provide a check to the person ordered to receive the money.

Justice of the Peace

1. Can I speak to the judge personally about my case?

No, the judge is barred by law from considering ex-parte (one-sided) or other communication outside the presence of the other party.

2. I just received a ticket; what are my options?

3. How long after I get my ticket will it be filed in the court?

Typically, it takes a week to 10 days before the ticket is received and filed in the court.

4. Can I take care of my husband / wife’s ticket?

Only the person who received the ticket can enter their plea. Once the plea is entered, anyone can make the payment.

5. What is the due date of my ticket?

If the ticket was issued by a state trooper, there will be a date that you must appear by in the middle of the ticket; if the ticket was issued by a Parker County Sheriff’s Deputy, it will be the Monday after 10 days from the date you received the ticket.

6. Can I get an extension on taking care of my ticket?

Yes, please call the court in your precinct and request an extension.

7. I am 16, can I take care of my ticket myself?

No, people that are 16 years of age and under must call the court and make an appointment to appear before the judge accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

8. I was just served with a civil citation by the constable; what do I do now?

If it was a small claims citation, it will tell you that you have to answer to the suit by the end of the 14th day after the day you were served with the papers. If the 14th day falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the answer is due by the end of the first day following the Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday. Your answer is simply your denial or acknowledgment of the debt, not the merits of your case. If you deny the debt, the case will be set for trial; if you acknowledge the debt, a judgment will be rendered against you without trial.

If you were served with an eviction citation, there will be a hearing date and time on the citation. That is the date and time that you should appear in court to tell the judge why you should not be evicted.

Your failure to answer or appear could result in a default judgment rendered against you.

9. I need to file a small claims suit, where do I file it and how much does it cost?

The basic rule of venue is that someone has the right to be sued where they live; there are exceptions to this rule. Should there be a motion by the defendant to transfer venue, a hearing will be held to determine if a transfer of venue will be granted, this could delay the proceedings for a couple of months.

If the transfer is granted, the plaintiff will be required to pay the filing fees again. The filing fee is $31 and the service fee in Parker County is $100 for each person sued. If the person sued lives outside of Parker County, call the civil clerk for the cost.

10. How much can I sue for in Justice Court?

The jurisdictional limit in Justice Court is $10,000, excluding statutory interest and court costs, but including attorney’s fees, if any.

11. Where do I file an eviction suit?

An eviction suit must be filed in the Justice of the Peace precinct where the property is located. Please refer to the precinct map to determine which precinct the property is located, or you can call 911 Addressing at 817-598-6135.

12. Can I include electric / water bills along with past due rent in an eviction suit?

No, the only thing that is considered in an eviction suit is who has a greater right to possession of the property in question and if any past due rent is owed. Any other debt can be addressed in a small claims suit.

13. Can the property owner send an agent to file the case and appear in court for them?

Yes, when the agent appears in court, they must have a signed, notarized statement from the property owner designating the person as their agent. The agent must also have knowledge of the facts and be able to testify to the facts in court.

14. Can I get my marriage license at the Justice of the Peace office and get married there?

Juvenile Probation

1. What happens if my child is taken into custody or placed in detention?

If your child is placed in custody, they will be immediately taken to the arresting police agency’s office. The parent / guardian will be contacted promptly. If detained, your child will be placed in a certified detention facility. Most juveniles from Parker County will be placed at the Granbury Regional Juvenile Justice Center, which you can reach by calling 817-579-0852. The center is located at:

2. What happens after placement in detention?

Within 48 hours (excluding weekends and holidays), a detention hearing will be held. A parent / guardian will be notified of time and place of hearing. This hearing is solely to decide whether or not your child will continue to be held pending court action. If held, the judge will issue an Order for Detention which is valid for 10 business days. An attorney will be provided to the juvenile if one is not retained by parent / guardian.

3. Does my child have to be represented by an attorney for court hearings?

Yes. The only exception is the initial detention hearing. You may hire an attorney to represent your child at juvenile court hearings. If you can’t afford an attorney, you may apply for a court-appointed one. This can be done through the Juvenile Probation Office.

4. May a police officer question a juvenile without parental permission?

Yes. Consent is not required from parents for questioning to occur. When the juvenile is not in custody they are advised that they are not required to answer any questions and are free to leave at anytime.

5. Can a juvenile be fingerprinted and photographed without parental permission?

Yes. If a juvenile is in custody or referred to the juvenile court for delinquent conduct (Class B misdemeanor or greater), parental permission is not required.

1. How do I dispose of flammable liquids, household and yard chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, etc.?

Parker County has an agreement with the City of Fort Worth, that our residents may use Fort Worth's Environmental Disposal Site for disposal of hazardous waste. First, purchase a voucher for $50 from the Fire Marshall's office at 817-598-0969, 215 Trinity Ave, Weatherford. Then bring your items to the Fort Worth disposal location. Call 817-392-3279 for hours and location.

2. What else can I do with wet paint?

The key is to dry out your paint completely so you can dispose of it in your curbside trash. Some tips we've received include, for smaller amounts, open paint cans outside and let them thoroughly air dry, or add kitty litter / sand to absorb all the paint; when it's dried out, you can just throw it away.
